Martinez police sergeant to be honored in annual blood drive

MARTINEZ, Calif. – He’s being remembered as a warrior, a loving husband, father, son and friend. Sergeant Brian Carter will be honored in an annual blood drive in Martinez on Wed 5 years after he died of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Carter was a Bay Area native with the Martinez police force when he passed away at the age of 37, leaving behind his wife Tiana, and 2 young sons Peyton and Preston.

His family says that during his battle with cancer, Carter received many blood and platelet transfusions to help with a stem cell transplant which later helped prolong his life.

Organizers say their hope is to offer the gift of life to et so and may benefit as Carter did.
